The Story Behind the Role
What is the most significant impact this role has on the bank's strategic decision-making and overall stability?
From my perspective within the Group Risks team, this role is absolutely central to the bank's resilience. By accurately preparing COREP and FINREP reports and analyzing capital adequacy, you're not just ticking boxes; you're providing the critical data that informs our senior management's strategic decisions. Your work directly ensures we meet regulatory obligations, manage our risk profile effectively, and maintain the trust of both regulators and our stakeholders. It's about safeguarding the bank's future, making every report a vital piece of the puzzle.
How does the team support continuous learning and adaptation to the constantly evolving regulatory landscape?
The regulatory world never stands still, and that's precisely what makes this role so engaging. Our small specialist team thrives on staying ahead. We regularly discuss new Basel III Pillar 1 developments, share insights, and collaborate closely on impact analyses. You'll not only be monitoring changes but actively involved in implementing new requirements and optimizing our systems. There's a strong emphasis on knowledge sharing and taking ownership of projects, ensuring everyone grows their expertise and contributes to our collective adaptability.
Can you share an example of a recent project where this role significantly contributed to improving a key regulatory process or system?
Certainly. We recently undertook a significant project to enhance our COREP and FINREP reporting systems. This wasn't just a technical upgrade; it involved a deep dive into data quality and process optimization. The Risk Controller played a pivotal role, collaborating with IT and other finance departments to streamline data flows, automate certain checks, and ultimately improve the accuracy and efficiency of our reporting. This initiative directly led to quicker report generation and more robust internal controls, a testament to the direct impact this role has on our operational excellence.
