The Story Behind the Role

Beyond implementing automation, how does this consulting role truly empower clients to build a sustainable culture of quality, and what challenges might arise?

In this role, you're not just writing automated tests; you're truly embedding quality into our clients' DNA. I remember a project where we transformed a manual, error-prone release process into a seamless, automated pipeline. The biggest challenge was initially shifting mindsets – helping the client see that investing in test architecture and best practices wasn't just a cost, but a long-term strategic advantage. By leading those smaller teams and acting as a trusted advisor, you empower them to own their quality, building systems that are robust and future-proof. It's incredibly rewarding to see the shift in their confidence and efficiency.

With such a diverse range of projects and technologies, how does the company ensure consultants remain at the cutting edge and continuously develop their expertise?

That's a core part of our 'Unternehmens-DNA'! The constant exposure to new clients and varied tech stacks is a development path in itself. But beyond that, we have a robust internal coaching program. Our senior consultants, who have literally 'walked the talk' in project realities, mentor you through challenges and introduce you to new concepts. Plus, the flexible and agile environment means we’re always learning from each other in daily stand-ups and dedicated knowledge-sharing sessions. You're never alone in facing a new technology; the team and our internal experts are always there to support your growth.

Description

You will be instrumental in designing test architectures, implementing modern automation tools, and advising clients on best practices in quality assurance within diverse IT landscapes like agile, DevOps, Cloud, and Mobile testing environments.

  • Take responsibility for test architectures and automation, conceptualizing and maintaining automation frameworks, ensuring quality for business-critical applications, and advancing test processes.
  • Implement modern automation solutions using tools like Playwright, REST Assured, Cucumber, Tricentis Tosca, or Cypress, integrating them seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Plan and manage testing activities, advise clients, coordinate test efforts, lead smaller teams, and support project/specialist teams in developing test strategies, quality assurance, and best practices.
  • Analyze and report test results, evaluate outcomes, document deviations, monitor test progress, and initiate optimizations.
  • Work on a variety of topics, bringing your expertise to agile teams, DevOps environments, Cloud, or Mobile testing, staying at the technological forefront.

What You'll Need

  • A minimum of 2–4 years of practical experience in software testing, test automation, or quality assurance, ideally in a consulting role.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#, and confidence in using testing and performance tools like Playwright, JUnit, REST Assured, Tricentis Tosca, JMeter, or LoadRunner.
  • Familiarity with modern test concepts and standards, including agile testing, risk-based strategies, or exploratory test design; an ISTQB certification is a plus.
  • Clear and audience-appropriate communication skills when interacting with developers, Product Owners, or stakeholders, capable of understanding requirements, presenting results, and providing recommendations. Experience with REST/SOAP APIs is a plus.
  • Demonstrated team spirit and leadership experience, having led smaller teams or professionally guided and developed colleagues.
  • Native German speaker with no issues communicating in English.
